Tips
- Voice not working? Gange needs permission for the microphone and speech recognition (Settings › Gange on the iPhone). If your iPhone can’t recognise speech offline in your language, Gange says so; tap or write instead.
- Writing works best with one big number in the middle of the box. If Gange reads it wrong, tap the eraser and write it again.
- Too fast for a young child? Edit the child and choose the relaxed pace: every answer gets 60% more time before it counts as quick.
- Practising particular tables at school? Edit the child and pick those tables. None picked means all of them.
- A round has 10, 20 or 30 questions (change it in Settings). 20 questions take 3–5 minutes.
- Deleting a child removes their progress from the iPhone. There’s no copy anywhere else.
Questions
Is it a subscription?
No. Gange costs $1.99, once. There’s no subscription, no in-app purchases and no ads.
Does it need the internet?
No. Everything works offline, including reading handwriting and understanding speech. There’s no account to sign in to.
Which ages is it for?
Roughly 6 to 10, from first to fourth grade: plus and minus within 20 for the youngest, the times tables up to 10 × 10 for the older ones.
What does “quick” mean?
A right answer within 3 seconds when tapping, a little longer when writing (5 seconds) or speaking (4 seconds). Quick answers move a fact on; slow right answers get more practice. The relaxed pace gives 60% more time.
Does voice work in my language?
Gange uses Apple’s speech recognition on the iPhone itself, never a server. If your iPhone can’t do it offline in your language, Gange says so, and your child taps or writes the answer instead.
Can several children use the same iPhone?
Yes. Add as many children as you like. Each one gets their own progress, pace and tables, and the heat map shows each child separately.
Which languages does Gange speak?
English, Danish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Korean, in the app and when answering out loud.
